BitCo Consumer Review

Hey Pitbull

I am currently on the net FUP trial, this past month or so has been pretty busy at work so i only use my link in the evenings from about 6:30/7 till about 11 or so. On the weekends i am either at work or away from home

Come December when a lot of people are at home with the kids etc and i myself will be home for a week or 2 in December then i'm sure we will have issues

Even tho the time period for the FUP to kick in has increased it is still based on usage over time so if for arguments sake you watch and entire season of a series which i' sure is very possible with us :-). You will be throttled and then you can only so SD

Do you stream SD or HD ?

Wow 16 hours, this was before the trial FUP so i'm assuming thats only possible at SD quality and you would have been throttled the entire time i'm sure :-(. i could not get past 1 movie without being throttled initially and then back to SD

I have a projector setup at home so HD is a must else you might as well be watching VHS quality stuff :-(

They promoted "Uninterrupted HD Streaming" yet you physically cannot achieve an Uninterrupted HD stream. which is my problem

Yes, the Kids stream SD in their play room via the PS3. The wife and myself watch HD though. They use it bulk of the time, when we use it doesn't seem to be any issues though. But yes, Bulk is done via SD.

Thanks Pitbull

SD works fine as it can stream nicely on a 2MB line, HD it practically impossible

I stream on 1 device mainly, haven't attempted on anymore as i will simply be asking for trouble :-(

I don't think the new FUP has been implemented yet. I'm still on trial, and can manage 5 hours of full speed downloads, which I can barely do, unless torrenting.

The new FUP is quite perfect, my normal downloads and streaming throughout the day are never affected, although torrents must be shaped, and it's understandable.

I'm sure you'll love it, just wait for the 10Gbps Core upgrade during this week, and If I'm not mistaken the FUP should be live next week?

+1

Hi Garth

Uninterrupted means without a break in the HD stream, be it 1 hour or 24 hours

I don't see a time limited for Uninterrupted HD streaming that was specified

Regards

I don't see why you signed up for the service if you knew you were going to be throttled to half speed after an hour?
The new FUP is on the way, and it may not be what you'd like, but I think we're getting a pretty darn good service, and that they actually listened to our FUP complaints, and have put effort into resolving it.
Give them a break, they can only do so much, and I think 5 hours is doing a lot already.

Hi Oliverwww

I signed up for the below

1. Uninterrupted HD Streaming. Uninterrupted HD is the key words here

2. Throttled if the line runs close to 100 % for an hour

Now are we suppose to know that both 1 and 2 contradict each other ?

How do you achieve "Uninterrupted HD Streaming" as advertised on my package ?

I have stated multiple times that i have no issue with the FUP and i am all for throttling people who abuse the network.

It was very clearly advertised, now it's sorry but we cannot do that. So who is at fault ?

Don't mean to sound harsh but just trying to make my point :-)

I understand the point you're trying to make, maybe it should have stated e.g.
"Uninterrupted HD Streaming*"
"*Unless otherwise throttled after an hour of full speed downloading"

But I do think they have solved the problem, and its not often that you will actually stream for a full 5 hours straight (Depending on the size of the file and speed that is being used to equally distribute the download - e.g. 200kbps for 10 hrs, vs 600kbps for 5 hours etc)

I clearly understand what you're trying to say, and do agree with you, but I don't think it's going to happen, so there is no point of putting pressure on the team. :)

Up until about an hour ago I was very impressed with everything I had heard about Bitco, My brother has been rubbing it in my face for a few weeks now and I eventually decided to go ahead with them (moving from another wireless provider with the same equipment). i have been very excited for the install taking place today. i knew my house would be a bit of an issue as it was for my previous provider but they really made an effort to find a good signal and after about an hour of searching the property attached it to a 12ft pole on and attached it too the garage and I got my internet. Bitco came today and i asked them to just to look at the same spot and although i know they probably dont have the same towers, i'm sure there is something in that LOS that might be useful. they ignored me pretty much hoped on the roof said no took photos and left. Very disappointed, guess no netflix or wow for me until i can get my previous supplier back up and running.

It's actually sad that we just have to accept not being provided what you pay for. If it was a free service i would have left it but we pay A Lot of money for this service

Since i took my package the word "HD" was removed from the package offerings on the 5MB one

I honestly don't think i was being unethical, they should not have advertised something they couldn't provide

The part that got to me is that they kept on saying it's because of the FUP. the failing to understand that i agree with the FUP but it should not have an impact on my "Uninterrupted HD streaming"

If they are sticking to their guns on their FUP the n they should stick to their guns on everything else they claim and not pick and choose what suits them

Maybe i'm the only only that feels this way or maybe there are a lot more guys that feel the same

The bottom line is that we are customers paying for a service, we are all in agreement that we pay x amount of money and receive x services

When only one of the parties does their part, it's a problem

Heres hoping for the best :-)

Nice one, you upgraded to 10Mbps?

I'm concidering it, but don't have that requirement now. Maybe upgrade the Kids TV and then upgrade to 10 Mbps :o

Yeah, I recently purchased a 4K tv, hoping that this will get me to the best possible resolution ;)

This holiday, my usage is going to go out the window! :)

oh so now i am completely throttle/capped cant download anything off Steam.

Talk about FUP-ed up
