BitCo Consumer Review

@Bitco
Your sales agents are becoming like telkom now. I want to see if I can get a connection with you guys and filled in online forms. I got contacted by call center agent and was asked to provide details including copy of my ID and proof of address. I was then asked to provide copy of the lease as I am renting the place. Than I was asked to provide concent form signed by the owner . Than they wanted a copy of lease that was signed by both me and the landlord.
It took me few days to get the thing from the estate agent and now they need something else.

All this just to check if I can get the Internet from you guys or not.... what a pain in back side. I was under impression that companies are keen to get new customers and are trying to make things as easy as possible for customers. But this to me seems the other way around.

Hi iru786

Yes, we hate this paperwork too but unfortunately we need to abide by law and RICA you when signing up for any services in the same way you have to when purchasing a cell phone contract.

Would be nice of the guys responded to my message in the thread too, ignoring new potential customers is not on.

Hi Garth,

I spoke to Khanyi yesterday and she sent through some forms for the service.

She said that you guys stop work by the 20th of November, so if I get the paperwork done this week, does it mean I will have it installed before then?

If the hardware is not installed before the 20th what does that mean in terms of payment?

Thanks.

You won't pay anything until it has been installed and the soaking period is over.

Sorry Senshi, we have been crazy busy with core network and distribution upgrades to cater for the massive demands in bandwidth our home subscribers have. I have to admit we were not prepared for the huge uptake but we are working hard to cater for everyone.

Hi everyone!
I am hopefully going to be a new BitCo customer as of Tuesday next week. I ordered a 5Mbps service and am now waiting for LOS to be done on Tuesday.

I am a business user as as well as a home user. I will provide feedback on my experiences with BitCo as things progress.

@Garth: I have purchased my own WiFi router (Netgear) and would like to use it with your service as I am not a fan of Linksys equipment. Will this be an issue? Do I have to input any settings on the router (apart from the standard WiFi stuff)?

Oh and I stream all my TV content (Hulu / Netflix / Vudu / YouTube to mention a few) so my average usage is around 200GB per month, sometimes more if I torrent or download larges files for business use.

Looking forward to good relationship with BitCo...

Hi CriticalConsumer

This is not a problem. You can use your Netgear in router mode and just request the IP address details from our support desk. We did a lot of testing on the AP we supply so it should be very good. I use one at home for my personal use and I have no issues.

We look forward to getting you online!

Garth

I have to say....

i have been getting amazing speeds and streaming for the last few days.

I know people are quick to complain and myself included but i really believe to give credit where credit is due.

If it stays like this for end of November and December its going to be an awesome media filled festive season :)

thanks Bitco

just want to find out, when they come and do a LOS and you have LOS do they install the equipment or do you need to reschedule another time ? they coming out on Friday to do a LOS :)

Hi Purebreed,

Our Team will conduct a survey with intent to install so if we find clear Line of Sight the link will be installed at the same time.

Once installation is complete the link will undergo a soak test before you receive handover and can begin using the line.

Good Luck, hope you have LOS!

Mike

Greetings to this forum

Well my installation was done on the 3rd of November at Lynx Honeydew Manor after establishing LOS. It was done quite professionally so that's a positive for Bitco.

On the negative, my link is still not active & we have entered week 2 now.

Richard de Jongh informed me last week that my issue has been escalated to the directors after sending him countless emails/phone calls.

I am yet to receive a phone call from Bitco.

Will keep you updated.

Hi Ngcolisto,

Can you PM me your full name quick so i can check where your link is sitting with Networks

Mike

Hi Mike

Any news and finalization on the FUP?
And is there any estimates of what speeds are you looking to implement with the Home Packages?? :D

Thx

Mike

Hi Ngcolisto,

i have sent you a PM with more details on your link handover, the reason you have not received handover was due to the equipment being offline so our network team could not provision the link and complete the soaking test.

i have received confirmation that the equipment is online so the network team will complete testing and handover

Mike
