Yeah, I commented a couple pages back asking what size UPS would be required to keep the wireless router, switch and dish powered for about 3 hours. I do quite a lot of camping so I have solar powered everythings, but alas, solar powered wireless router I am yet to find :D

I have just registered on the MyBroadBand forum, and at the same time, the BitCo guys are here installing the dish after LOS has been tested.

I am just here to say, very professional and looking forward.

Waiting for them to complete and cannot wait to see the Internet speed after soaking is done.

It's about time say goodbye to my 3G connection for home use. :D
 
My line went live yesterday was also on 3G, Telkom to be specific.

Haven't had a chance to fully run it through its paces but it seems to the business.

I don't think either of us will be disappointed.

Site visit done today at my bosses house in Douglasdale.... no LOS. Douglasdale seems to be an issue with regards to internet. There is a big opportunity for BITCO if they could sort this out....

I used to live in that area too. Because it's in a valley almost none of the wireless guys can assist. And Telkom, well they are just Telkom...
 
While waiting for the line activation, there is a question in my mind.

The guys has installed the equipment professionally. The wireless router is up and running, and there is a Wi-Fi has been setup, but password protected.
No one told me the password yet, and I cannot access it now anyway because it is under soaking period.

So, on the date of activation, what information will they provide me? A BitCo account username and a password, which is used for setting the router up? as well as the Wi-Fi password?

Although I am not going to adjust anything. But I am just thinking, for the users who would like to use their own routers instead, is there a BitCo username and password provided? Because that information is needed for entering the router's setting.

Correct me if I am wrong.
And share your insights here, so that potential consumers might find out this piece of information to be useful.
 
Yay.. I Got the Date set. Lets Just hope It all goes smoothly.. I have my concerns.. As I live in quite a leafy area.

I had a look around.. but I don't think i see any High Sites..

Any one Use Bitco in Kempton Park, Birch Acres?

Please Let there be LOS and Decent Connection!!!!..

This you will get when they call you to give you the go ahead after the line soak

Bitco will supply you with the router password on request but I think it's in rare instances and they know the person knows what he's doing.
 
Speaking of installation. I can't log into the router. I'm entering the IP on the box but it won't connect through Firefox.

Is there another IP address for the router that I don't know about or are we not allowed to log into it?

It should be 192.168.1.1

I log into it all the time :)

You are able to use your own router, put in a request in writing to the support team [email protected] stating that you would like to use your own WAN router, they will then provide you with the IP , Gateway, Subnet and DNS configuration. You will then be able to manage your router they way you want.

I find that using my own WAN router is easier should I want to make changes to my WiFi settings - saves me a phone call / support ticket.

Those that are still on the BitCo supplied router will not be able to mess around with the router - they do not hand out access details for it (unless requested for). The supplied CD does not work with the router as it is pre-configured and the router is locked down.

Hi Guys,

I will request some technical detail on the power consumption of the equipment and post this info for you so that you can work around the ongoing power problems.

All our high sites have battery backups and we have mobile generators on standby if we experience prolonged outages.
