So for fun, and because I am now spending less money on takeout and processed junk food, I've decided to put some of that saving into bitcoin just for fun.

Is there an up to date quick start guide? Specifically, where is the best place to open a wallet and where is the best place to buy Bitcoin?

VALR or LUNO is fine. Fund with EFT from your bank, buy BTC on the exchange. Depending on the amount either keep it there or transfer to a wallet of your choice.

Thank you.

Went with Luno after I also found a R200 referral code in a Youtube tutorial video.

Will EFT funds over tomorrow and then make my first purchase when those Rands appear.

The Youtube video suggested Muun as a cold storage for bitcoin. I had never heard of Muun before.

What cold storage wallet is most used in this thread?

Moon wallet is great to have on your phone, and super quick with instant lightning transactions. Just backup and secure your wallet seed phrase with AES-256 in case you lose your phone.

I buy when @Snyper564 gives me the nod. Good man that. I trust him, we are Cryptonaires. Welcome to the club

I have been learning as much as I can since 1pm this afternoon - reading and Youtube video's. I always over research something before I take the plunge. I'm quite excited for my first buy tomorrow and I'll be in it for the long run - at least 10-20yrs until I retire. It might even overtake my current retirement savings. We'll see.

Good luck! Don't let anyone get you into FOMO or Fear modes. Stick with the plan.

HODL. Never sell, unless you are 70 and broke, then sell and go retire on an ocean liner

Only invest what you can afford to lose. Think of it as one day somebody switches off the internet and everything is all gone. The only thing valuable you have left is what is inside your house. Nothing else.
