Good Day

What is the recommended Bitcoin wallet of choice. I know there are some such as exodus, jaxx, edge etc but which ones are robust, tried and tested and hopefully safe to use. Looking for something to help with regards to payments on online platforms that accept bitcoin or will Luno suffice?

Use the Bitcoin Core wallet on desktop if you don't mind downloading the whole blockchain. Otherwise BRD on the iPhone or Mycelium on Android.

Been reading up on how quick and dead easy bread is so i may just go that route. Not about to download the whole blockchain on my pc.

I want to get in on bitcoin, but I am a newbie to these things. What is the best way for a novice and are the returns as great as they say?

Exodus on pc and Coinomi on mobile.

Looks like Coinomi is a favourite amongst more people - will look into it

There is quite a number of ways to get into bitcoin. First is Luno, once you outgrow Luno then Binance, and after you have gotten over that then the more risky aspects of it on Bitmex.

However it all depends on how you want to get into it. do you want to trade it - just hold onto it and maybe increase that holding over time?

I believe any wallet where you control the private keys is preferable over one where you dont. Luno wallet App you dont control the keys, but trust them instead to safeguard your bitcoin.

Free wallets are always good, so some good mobile wallet options are: Edge Secure, Coinomi, Green Wallet, Samurai Wallet, Zap Wallet, Blue Wallet.
Some like Zap and Blue wallet can also do lightning network transactions too.

Some cool desktop options are: Electrum, Armoury, Exodus wallet, Atomic wallet

If you want to pay for a hardware wallet, the Trezor is great, as well as the Ledger Nano S.

I needed a wallet that could hold BTC and some arb Alt Coins and found that Jaxx had a decent amount of coin options. The interface is also nice, so I use Jaxx...

Your best bet is to spend a few night's watching YouTube videos which explain all this to you... Don't jump into it without first understanding the absolute basics of what it is and how it works.

I also use JAXX. Been using it from the start and havent seen the need to change. I like the new UI as well.
Yea I'm yet to have any problems with Jaxx and have been using it for well over a year now. I'm still on an older version though so haven't seen the updated UI

They actually did away with "Jaxx" and was rebranded to Jaxx Liberty with a new ui. Probably best to get the new client as the old one is unsupported.

hardware/cold wallets like the nano ledger S. any software-based wallet you can install on your phone are crooks, especially those that don't give you your private key (do some research)

Those that don't supply private keys, usually attributes slow coin transfers to the "network activity and popularity of bitcoin and that's why it's so slow". So i did a few tests on a hardware wallet (or a software one that gave me my private key) and determined they're lying through their teeth.

be careful.

Any evidence for this? Time is related to network fees which are different between wallets and sometimes hard coded so you have to stay up to date.

One thing with Coinomi is that when transacting Ethereum it always chooses the correct amount of GAS. With other wallets they usually recommend you choose some insane amount and then get some back.

Exodus now also has a mobile wallet, if you're not interested in all the tokens that Coinomi supports. And also comes with Trezor support now.

Make sure to download from exodus.io ONLY.
