I'm using telkom adsl and mweb as my isp. I can surf the net and what not but
bitcomet and the like do not work at all, I've tried forwarding the ports but to no avail. Is the problem MWEb Telkom or Marconi or do I just need to set up my router correctly and so on.

Can anyone please help me figure out what I need to do, after reading alot of other post it seems like not many people have the same problem.

Also is it posible to hire a tech to come in and set up my adsl to work with torret and P2P

Heya,

Okay first off, I don't think its a good idea to get a techie in...

Anyways, in BitComet, what port have you chosen? (Options -> Preferences -> Listen Port)

Its a good idea to choose a number not between 6881 - 6889. Just click "Choose Random Port" and forward it on your router.

Shouldn't be the routers problem or Mweb.

So silly question, Im using a Realtek ethernet card for my local area network do I forward the ports to that the realtek cards Ip adress to the ip adress I get in command prompt ipconfig or to the fixed ip adress I specify in 1394 connections in My connections
Don't want to be a bother but what ya think Skint

Hmm, no - you forward from the router to your Realtek Ethernet card. So you'd use your LAN IP in your routers web interface.

OOOOO and another thing what about proxy settings in Bitcomet and Win XP SP2 firewall or my antivirus firewalll (AVG)

Changed my PAT settings and forward it like so is this correct

TCP LAN Bitcomet 10741 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 10741

I am connecting to my DHT but speed has not increased

Hmm you shouldn't have to do anything with the proxy settings, just make sure that you've allowed BitComet in your Firewall.

Not sure about PAT settings either, but that looks right to me. What speeds are you getting atm?

To forward my router portforward.com told me to go to http://192.168.10.200./
so as to configure my router and In PAT settings set it up

Just a bit worried there might be some other setting I'm missing

Anyway to answer your question I'm only getting 8-10 kb/s

Hmmm, if your ports are all forwarded it should be fine. Make sure you dont have any limiting proggies, and if you're on a network make sure all the network PC's dont have either, like Netlimiter.. what connection are you on? 192?

Also, try a different torrent from a different site if you can. Torrents depend on the seeders... if your seeders are uploading at 10kb/s you're only going to get 10kb/s.

192? proggies?

Also tried Shareaza and forward ports, made exeptions on ports in win xp sp2 and when I test the ports on their page they keep saying I have a different IP address each time and I heard MWEb dose not allow for static IP could this be a part of the problem
