BitTorrent battles over bandwidth

". . . . if users find that their broadband service is actually limiting the application that they most want to use, they'll simply go somewhere else."
Lucky sodds. Win-Win for everyone there.

The so called broadband hogs is the big consumer of bandwidth, but they are also the creator of demand for bandwidth.

Without these hogs, other users will have no files they want to download from.Isnt it ?

To a certain extent. But I think the majority of users don't need use these files in any case. While I do not think that these 'hogs' are bad per se, I do think that the majority of users do not make use of them, albeit if I do.

Western & Northern Europe are in a much more advanced state of evolution in their Internet connection.

Most users already have 8Mbps connection ,question is ,what do you use a 8 Mbps pipe for ? certainly not for server/client download

demand will have to come from p2p

p2p as I understand it is mainly for the download of 'gray' software like TV shows, movies, games, or whatever. Things that aren't entirely legal, but it's so easy that it's basically fair game. As I understand it, it's only a majority of total users who download this stuff.

When I was in Europe, a lot of ppl I know where afraid of download these items because they had heard of ppl getting busted big time for it, so I'm not so sure if it's as widespread as perceived. Again, it's difficult to guage, as movie/music producers claim it's eating into their profits while their revenues remain stable, I don't know... It's just difficult to ascertain the real facts.

But ultimately, as I see it. p2p and the downloading of things that aren't entirely legal is not the practise of the majority of users, as most do not even know how to go about doing this, it's mostly the savvy dudes that do it. There are also a lot of entirely legitimate ways of using really fast broadband.

many P2P download are indeed sort of grey area at the moment, but I think Europeans wont kill it, they will instead find a way to make best use of it.

Music industry's attitude towards music download is an example of things to come. They simply can not resist the progress of technology .Just have to find innovative ways to control it.

Appilations will be developed and pioneered to make use of P2P and broadband bandwidth available provided by new generation of technology 3G 3.5G ,Wimax ..
