Black Friday at Checkers !

Ag no, man. :( :mad:

I am getting really ticked off by all these Black Friday things in SA.

We don't have Black Friday here. It's a blerry import from American consumer/pop culture, just like Halloween. We can't have a Black Friday because there's no Thanksgiving holiday the day before.

Now I admire and even love many things about America, so this is not an anti-American thing.

The whole notion in SA is largely content-free. Irrrrrrrrrritating.

The time is rapidly approaching for me to don my Grumpy Crusader Hat and write letters of complaint to those climbing on the Black Friday bandwagon. Are they so in thrall of US retailers and marketing that they can't come up with their own Super Specials Day??!!

My gasket is wearing thin.

Are you the Grinch? Are you happy with current pricing? Everybody I know wishes everything could become at least slightly affordable.

Are you that selfish that you would rather bitch about the American tradition, than grant poor people a little relief?

Back on topic: They should really call it Grey Friday if that's the best they can do.
 
They should have it for seven Fridays and call it Rainbow Friday :D with at least some decent specials.
 
wtf - they advertise massive black friday specials... then i see Checkers effectively has a 1 pager.. and house and home the same... come on - do it properly :-)

I have to agree here. i don't know what is worse - borrowing from American culture again, or messing it up so awkwardly.
 
Checkers just being a normal company, advertise on a first come first serve basis but no stock to back it up. No point
 
lol! Checkers I visited the manager told e there was a queue of people waiting in line! I couldn't buy anything all sold out but did have a R50 voucher if you spend R500
