I have been an Afrihost / Vumatel subscriber for number of years . Today I spotted an advert for Fibre subscriptions offered by Afrihost / Vumatel.
The offer for the Vumatel 100 / 100 Mbps service is R 669 pm with first two months free and then kicks in at R 669 till next annual adjustment.... My monthly subscription is R 927 pm for the same service, paid by debit order. I phoned , what am I missing here ?
Its a Black Friday special available to 27 Nov and only available to new customers ??? Why must I as a loyal customer pay 38% more than newly signed up customers. Can I terminate my subscription and re-join ? No, I cannot as I am on the system and its only for never before customers.. WTF ???

Hello.
Please note that the Black Friday Special is only for New Installation sign-ups, from the 20th to the 27th.

Uhm, yes..

It's called a business and for a business to continue to exist, it needs to make money..

Is it therefore good business practice to suddenly cut a 3rd off the price for all existing customers for a whole year..? Definitely not, it's not sustainable..

These types of offers are a great way to gain new customers.. perhaps one day, there will be enough customers that the business can go, we can afford to slash the price now..

However, margins on fibre are slim, so don't expect price cuts for black Friday for existing customers, simply isn't good business practice..

I got free speed upgrades a few times over the years.

Poor form that new customers don't get that. :sneaky:

I dont follow your logic ? New customers did get the benefit of speed upgrades. They wernt charged higher than the existing customers for the same service ??
It’s similar to your logic. I.E. Crying about nothing.

Do you perhaps work for the duo ?
The trick to running a successful business is not to leave a bad taste in existing customers mouths.
It is poor form .
The fact is they trying to get new business if you cancel with Vuma not many area's have multiple FNO's so you kinda give it up in hope LTE is fine in your area so its a form of bullying tactic they know you ain't gonna want to run and go to Telkom LTE so they can do whatever they want... Next year try ensure your service is cancelled for 30 days prior to Black Friday and then you can outsmart them.

Disclaimer the term "they" refers to Vumatel.
