Black listed phone

How is it possible to buy a phone from Makro, use it for 1 1/2 years and have it black-listed by someone. Don't they have to prove that they owned the phone in the first place? Phoning the provider doesn't help, they say it was reported stolen. Now I ask you, how is this possible and how do you explain and proof it's not.

It could also be a case where somebody bought a phone from a shady dealer where the phone had it's imei altered somewhere along the line so it's the same as yours. Slim chance though

I think I'll just go to the police station and see what happens.... If I don't post again it's probably because they've locked me up or shot me or something ...
