Has anyone found the cause and solution for not being able to connect to any Black Ops or Black Ops 2 servers using TELKOM as an ISP? I found it very ironic that they promote gaming via Dogaming but yet you cannot connect to popular games like Black Ops using their product. At first I thought it might be a peering issue but that changed long ago and as far as I'm aware Telkom does allow peering with MWEB. My MWEB account works fine.

Hi

Is this PC gaming? I'm on Telkom ISP and I can play on xbox live.

Can you ping one of the gaming servers?
196.28.69.96
196.28.69.98

http://www.mweb.co.za/games/servers.aspx

If you can ping them that means your connectivity is not an issue,
Then do a telnet command I'm not sure of the port but as per mweb site its 3074
to cmd will be "telnet 196.28.69.96 3074"

If you cannot telnet from my understanding it could be a firewall or something preventing you from connecting to the server.
Need to check with Telkom/MWEB

Regards
Keegan

Hi Keegan

Yes PC forgot to mention that. Not sure what the problem is but I found a solution that seems to be working and that is changing the DNS from auto and pointing it towards the google public DNS 8.8.8.8/ 8.8.4.4 and I'm connecting.

Did not last long. Even using Google public DNS is not working now.
