Black Ops randomly freezing since last patch

So my Black ops was working fine before the patch, the occasional lag spike but still playable. Now it freezes randomly, usually at the end of a match but occasionally mid match.

Now sometimes If I go into and out of windows a few times it comes back like nothing was wrong after 5 minutes or so.
I posted this on the official black ops thread but it got lost in discussion and noticed some other guys with the same complaint just trying to find the common link because not everyone seems to have this problem.

Tried on vista and windows 7, latest AMD drivers (and last version) so thats not the issue. I have an HD 4850, i5 760 (no OC), 750W PSU, 4mb ADSL with telkom and afrihost pre-paid.

Have you tried forcing an unexpected reboot?


Only kidding! If it's post patch errors, the first thing I would try is to just cut the config_mp.cfg file from the players directory and store it elsewhere as a backup. Then load the game which would create a fresh file from scratch and see how it goes from there.

Ok tried it, still crashes. Will keep googling and see what I come up with.

fix 25 regarding windows 7 blocking packets is bad , thats the only fix all of windows 7 users would have to do unless they play cs and already did the fix.
