Hello Kids,

My sisters PC, decided no to boot anymore, the screen goes black JUST before it shows the XP logo and that rolling bar thing.
Tried booting from CD/DVD (Ubuntu, Win 7, XP) No go. It says "Press any key to boot from CD" , I press any key and it goes to a black screen.
I am dumb founded.
Tried removing and switching up the ram, no go. Tried Removing and reseating the HDD, GFX Card, no go. No beeps. All the fans work including the PSU Fan.

Anyone, have ANY ideas??

Thanks!!

Edit : Forgot to mention that the PC might not have shut down properly before the electricity people switched the power off but I was at work and someone else did it so I am not 100% sure what happened there. Her husband says he shut it down properly.

It could be that the PSU is damaged.

Remember electricity comes back with a surge.
Have you tried another PSU?

All I can suggest is that you try another graphics card or to first see if her graphics card works in another PC.
It's always handy to have another PC with the similar kind of specs, so that you can swap/test each component in the other PC.

Begin with the PSU like Venomous suggested, then the graphics card and then RAM.

Yeah I thought about that. Only issue is that I need to disassemble MY pc to sort HERS out. Bleh. I should charge :D

Let me try the PSU and GFX Card, both are the same. PCI-E etc.

Get back to you guys. Appreciate the assistance okes.

Tried another gfx card, no go.
Tried another PSU, no go.

:wtf: ........ i am so lost with this problem!

Reset the BIOS to failsafe defaults. It's possible a BIOS change is forcing the PC to output a resolution that is out of range of the Monitor. Normally, a OS changes resolution between startup and just before the OS GUI.

Seemed to be the BIOS. Dammit, the PC fixed itself. You know, I had changed EVERYTHING on the damn PC. Motherboard everything!
