It is a bit hard to explain with DC since the DCU is all-inclusive, unlike Marvel who have a separate or single standing MCU.

I have have no objection to a black Superman. There are multiple varieties of superman throughout the multiverse.
My objection is to the announcement weeks before the release of the Zack Snyder's Justice League.
It smacks of WB trying to sabotage this movie, and it's probably going to sink the new project as something driven by spite.
The screen writer is also somewhat of a douch by all descriptions

Would be nice if they cast Jesus as middle eastern for once...Can't wait for reboots for as casting Muhammad as a German white or Jesus as black or yellow african

Seems odd that people are fully on board with an alien from another galaxy looking competely human but God forbid they make him black....
