not sure if this has been posted but there seems to be a recent event of trackpads for various Blackberry devices which have stopped working. apparently it is due to a software update that went out. this has effected devices from the 9300 through to the Torch.
so if your trackpad stops responding for some reason, it probably is not the phone but the update. apparently the solution for this is to either pull the battery, which is the solution for everything is seems, or do a OS re-install. this is not a guaranteed solution but has helped a few people already.
