I am currently on an MTN contract, it is Anytime 200 topup, I chose the option without the phone.

If I get a blackberry and subscribe to BIS, can the R59 per month be deducted from my R200 airtime value?

Thanks

I'm not sure about MTN but on Vodacom if you have a top up contract then you still have to add the BIS as a service ie. if you have a top up 135 you will end up paying R135 + R59 every month. You can't use the airtime to pay for the BIS.

That sucks I hope it is different for MTN, is there an MTN rep here that will know?

Also another question related to BIS, comparing the speed, when using BIS does having 3G make a difference? Say for instance I had an 8900, would it be slower than a BOLD to browse?

Hmmm found this on their website:

Any services that incur a separate charge such as Itemised Billing, Calling Line Identity, SMS Bundles, Data Bundles, BlackBerry, migration charges, Me2U transfer charges etc. will not deplete the inclusive Airtime Value.

Here's the link.

I've used a bb that had 3g and it definitely seemed faster than my 8520 which only has edge.

I know, I wanted to take out the 8520 on a topup 200 and then pay for the BIS using the included airtime, but found out I couldn't :(

Luckily vodacom came out with that special for the weekend everyday where you only pay R14 for the BIS service :). I wouldv'e still liked a top up though but then it would've cost me R259 instead of R149

Just confirmed with the consultant that it is extra, can't come out of the airtime...

Stupid MTN that's so dumb they just want to screw you out of more money...
