Blackberry Bold 9700 n00b

I upgraded my package yesterday to get the Bold, popped in the card and started using it.

One of my friends checked it and said it wasn't activated as yet because in the top right of my screen I don't see a B or little dots. Sound right?

Also I hear not everything is free - so how do I know what is and isn't?

Have you activated your blackberry service? If not then you're paying for everything via normal data. You need to activate a blackberry package on your contract or prepaid card.

Go to manage connections, Service status. There you'll see if the BIS is active. You'll pay for streaming and banking sites doesn't allow you to use the BB browser for some reason.

Checked my service and it wasn't active Called them and it only becomes active on 31 May - so until then, they say nothing I can do! I think its stupid tbh :/

Are you on MTN? It should be activated within a day or two as far as I know.
