Blackberry Bold - functions crippled by vodacom?

Hey Sensorei, when your BIS got activated did you get BBmaps?

Just a tad off topic....

Also a new Blackberry Bold user. Received my Blackberry today and completed the forms for BIS. Does any of you guys have an idea how long it will take for BIS to be activated? I am with MTN by the way

If MTN uses the same provisioning method as Vodacom then after about 1 hour for the quickest and you will have a stable connection 1st time with all the service books being sent to your device.

Even if you register on http://mtn.blackberry.com/ and do not setup any email accounts including the @mtn.blackberry.com device email address , at least it will send you extra service books that will allow most of the network-enabled applications on the handheld to work.

To anyone expecting to get this type of device and NOT subscribe to either BIS or BES then you are wasting your time.

I just got my Bold today on MTN and was upset to see that there are no BBmaps available on my phone
. My BIS isn't activated yet so that should explain it I hope. *holds thumbs*

Forgot to mention that my service provider is Nashua Mobile. When I try to register on http://mtn.blackberry.com/, I'm told the following :

I had the same problem with my both me and the wife's phone. Your BIS is still not activated. Just call the service center to check for you.

They sent me the BIS form to complete and sign and it was up and running in about 12 hours

I assume you mean the Nashua Mobile service centre?
