I only figured it out recently, but I can do almost everything except accessing stuff lower on the menu. The trackball should be the only way to move around in the menu, or thats just how I feel
 
So, I went to MTN today and asked if my Bold is fixed. They said they are going to replace it and I should come check Friday. They are waiting for stock

I've been on v5 .216 since Saturday and I'm having the same experience on my storm. Its not really a problem though so I'm not complaining.
 
Still haven't gotten my BB, just wandered, will they give me the bold with the newest OS?
 
Arghh, BB said they expect to get stock today but it will only prob get to the MTN store in 4 working days. Where is the BB repair/headoffice place, I will gladly drive and get it if it is in Gauteng...
 
Ok, My friends got a blackberry bold 9000, I downloaded mxit but its unable to work, any reason why?

I tried reading through the first post but well its confusing and I'm not sure if its relating to the BB bold 9000.

I can only select 1 of 2 options, VODAFONE LIVE or HOTSPOT BROWSER... , how to I get the option to select INTERNET BROWSER?

Jap I did, do I need to change something to allow the app to connect, the app is crashing during the installation phase.

How do I know if the app is using BIS?

Sounds like you don't have BIS running... Do you see capital EDGE / GPRS, or if you are on 3G, do you have a little "Blackberry icon" next to 3G?
 
The nonavailability of the internet browser tells me that BIS is not active on this phone (is the word EDGE in capitals or if 3G should have a B (4 dots) next to it (if there's no B or edge in small then BIS is not active). The new mxit uses BIS
 
Sometimes when you migrate to a Blackberry contract, your BIS is only activated the next month. On VC at least (not sure about MTN) you can request BIS as an add-on for that month.

You won't get far with a Blackberry without BIS or BES!!
 
Yap, no "B' is displayed while on 3G...

Would this cause mxit not to install?

Should he phone vodacom and ask them to activate it or wait until its done?
 
Why not just mxit from gtalk, that's what I do - or that is how I gtalk to my gf who doesn't have gtalk.

I finally got my BB back after sending it in

Hmm, just realised that there is a limit on how big a file may be on bis - not so nice

Yep, they have gotten rediculous with all BIS limits from speed to file download size. Before the 8520 mad rush I was getting over 100kB/s at night, now I'm stoked if I get 40kB/s. I used to be able to download .exe or MP3 files up to around 35MB. Now the limits are rediculous. I can't even watch streaming video anymore without waiting ages for the media to buffer.
 
Ja, it is ridiculous. I had to wait 2 months for them to fix my phone and then when I come back it, the services is nothing like before. Really disappointed, but still better then nothing
 
Just got my Storm 2 :D :D

Any info on how I can remove the annoying mtn "desktop" image from my current theme? The phone came with one theme called Precision Zen, but it seems like MTN has overridden the desktop image for that theme and replaced it with an MTN logo.
