Blackberry Bold Tips/Tricks/Apps Thread

Just got my Storm 2 :D :D

Any info on how I can remove the annoying mtn "desktop" image from my current theme? The phone came with one theme called Precision Zen, but it seems like MTN has overridden the desktop image for that theme and replaced it with an MTN logo.

Choose any photo and from the menu select 'Set as home screen image'. Voila.

6. viigo is running perfectly, does it use bis or must i set it maually to do it.

sorry if its alot of q's

1. If it says EDGE and not edge or has the blackberry icon next to the 3G then it is free as far as I know.
2. You can change the settings of in General options when you press the menu button when in messages.
3. Sorry, don't know
4. Trying to find out myself
5. Look at point one.
6. Will look into it.

I am sure Oronte will help out more than me.

Have a look at my first post on this thread to answer quite a few of your questions. Watch out for the blinking B symbol and follow the apn advice. You can seperate your sms and email inbox. you can set this from options in messages however you can't create personal individual folders for sms, etc. What I do is save my sms' and and delete them from the inbox.
Facebook can sync pictures with your phonebook but I don't know if this carries through to BB messenger. Viigo can use BIS only, make the change in Viigo options.

Is there a way to have applications installed in memory other than the 128MB dedicated applications memory? MY 128MB is full and I use all the apps in it. Now I cannot download and install any more applications from the BB applications store. I can't find a setting to switch installation memory.

I am also running low on my memory, so I will look around for you.

Hmm, make sure you copied all your ringtones etc to your memory card. It can save a few megabytes

Okay, so I read that blackberry maps can be deleted to clear up allot of space. don't know if you use it though

E-mail setup

Hey guys, i'm really sorry if this has been covered. I got a bold 9700 a few weeks ago, and for the life of me can't get my e-mail's on it.. I work for absa and connect to a VPN to get my mail of the server using my laptop. How can i get it so it forwards a copy to my blackberry! Many thanks!

Just wanted to pop in and announce my arrival to the BB clan :D
Bold 9000 on MTN prepaid BIS and loving it. Been reading through this thread since yesterday and found helpful tips.
Sure I'll get more along the way!

If it's possible to install an application on the card you'll get it when the app installs, most apps won't. Delete games, maps, languages you don't use.

oronte is right.. a lot of applications that are not used are eating up the memory so youmight as well delete those and retain what you just need or use

Going to start Googling now, but thought I'd bite the bullet and ask here too.

Issue with Bluetooth file transfer (receiving)

I can pair with devices but can't receive from them - just fails from their side.
Nokia and Samsung.

Been looking through all of the settings but not found anything that's hindering me.
Any help please?

To receive photos - for example - you have to be in the all pictures menu/folder and then select "Receive Using Bluetooth" from the menu when the BB button is pressed.
