BlackBerry Classic Launch

I was a BlackBerry fan because of the physical keyboard and did not ever contemplate touch-screen typing as a viable alternative, but that changed after smashing it against the wall and thereafter acquiring a Samsung GN3 - swyping on touchscreen is an indispensable method and now cannot conceive using a physical keyboard again, ever...

I thought similarly, then got a Passport. Now, it's a pleasure having a real keyboard with virtual punctuation/number/special keys. One of the things I missed when I went virtual that I now have back is keyboard shortcuts: for example, if I press and hold "G", it opens a new email message to be sent from my Gmail account. "K" will speeddial my girlfriend. "U" brings up the calculator. I don't have to go hunting for apps or contacts.

When 10.3.1 is available. You will be able to programme every button as a short cut to launch apps.
This is for qwerty devices. This is something full touch devices can't do.
No need to touch the screen anymore.

10.3.1 is taking ages to release, when ever i upgrade my OS it always feels like I'm getting a new phone because there are so many changes and thats nice :)

I'm using a leaked 10.3.1 already. :)

Something I think would be a great idea: allowing it on touch screen phones too. You know how you can slide the touchscreen keyboard up by using two fingers from the bottom? Slide the keyboard up, and then use the same keyboard shortcuts as the Classic/Passport.

How are the reboot times and multithreading on the new phones?

I fired my Bold 9780 up again last night (I really loved that phone), and tried installing WhatsApp. Unfortunately the App World got stuck on a "please wait" screen, and when I woke up this morning, it was still stuck. Rebooted (took 5 bloody mins) and now I left it on the "please wait" screen to try downloading WhatsApp again. Will see when I get home if it has succeeded.

Much better. The BB10 phones have, arguably, the best multitasking of any mobile OS, and they do reboot pretty quickly (but don't often need to be rebooted, even better).

I just don't see why the Blackberry Q10 is still MORE expensive than the Blackberry Z30?!?!?!

Lower Specs, Smaller Screen, Smaller Battery. i mean its just crazy. Plus the price of the Z30 hasn't dropped in over a year. Waiting patiently for the price to get to R299 P\m

Back on topic, according to this mag, its going to be out in Jan

Stock of the BlackBerry Classic was available since last Thursday in Vodacom's warehouse.
Deals will only be available for it on the 8th of February.

The lack of marketing in SA is very very worrying for the BB Classic....why not create a hype like they did with other handsets?

Then again, does the SA networks have too much stock of the BB7 stock?
