So RIM just announced the new Curve 3G...any word yet from local networks when it'll be available in SA?

i did go to vodacom today and ask about it they told me with a sarcastic reponse "i dont know what you are talking about" lol so yeah went to another vodashop they told me end august or beginning september :) as for price they dont have one yet but i think it should be around 2500-3500 round about there so excited for it to come!!

It's on the MTN deal sheets (As the Keppler), but there's is no indication of release date (the one I saw was valid till Decemeber). I think it's in the same price range as the Curve 8900.

Thanks for the info, oronte. RIM SA haven't been able to confirm an official availability date or price just yet.

hmmm, could this be the Phone that finally gets me to upgrade. Or will this be at a premium.
I hope that it is not much more that the older Curve, or am I just kidding myself?

I just spoke to a friend in Canada with exchange the device will cost R3200 - I am assuming here in South Africa we looking to pay nearly R4000 for such device, could be mistaken...

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum (just registered now, as I wanted to reply to this thread).

I'm also quite interested in the Curve 3G, as 3G and GPS were two features really holding me back from getting a BlackBerry (didn't want to splurge on the Bold 9700 – too expensive right now...).

Anyway, I was able to contact Vodacom, and they were surprisingly efficient in getting back to me with an answer – within 24hrs!

According to my correspondent, who spoke to Vodacom's Procurement division, the estimated arrival of the BlackBerry 9300 (Curve 3G) is September 2010:D hope this helps :)

(I also wrote a blog post over at my blog detailing this, so message me if you'd like to visit it.)

Lovely. I just got the old non-3G curve last week

We keep hearing about new Blackberry handsets which all look worthy of investigation, but RIM fails to tell us when it's likely to be shipped to SA :(

Excellent :) Now just to hold thumbs that the price isn't too steep!

Still only 2mp camera and no flash, this is the main area were BB need to catch a wake up

The 9300 doesn't seem to be a huge upgrade from the 8520, besides GPS and 3G. If I were to upgrade from my 8520, I'd much rather go for the 9700. Hopefully its price will drop with the release of the new handsets.

The thing about Blackberry is prices rarely drop on contract. My Bold 9000 is now R10 more/month than it was when I bought it nearly two years ago.

Well, that sucks! I guess I'll have to stick to my trusty ol' 8520 :p

You can buy second hand 9700 hand sets for R3500 around there, I am not sure if they grey listed..

I am going to place an order for the 3G curv if it aint more than R3500..... 3G is the only difference, oh and it is ready for OS6
