Looks like my bold 9000 is nearing retirement - the top button no longer works so I have to carry a magnet just to unlock it. Anyone have anything negative to say about the 9300? My plan is to upgrade on the missus' contract and then give the curve to her later in the year when the new bold arrives.

I have a 9300.Very good phone.Battery life is awesum using 2G.
The screen resolution is not that grand.
 
Got the Curve yesterday. Not too bad but does anyone know where I can download OS5 from?
 
BB=very overrated. Have the torch and thinks its a piece of ****e.

Anyhow . . . found v5.0.0.1440 so I'm downloading that now. :)
 
Can anyone with a 9300 confirm GPS actually works? It will not pick up my location. :o
 
Problems solved - I gave the phone to my missus and went back to my battered 9000. I'll upgrade later when the new bold comes out.
 
My Bold 9000 has also reached the end of its career and I almost got myself the 9300 on a number of occassions but didn't as I would like to get to OS 6 (new Bold out of contract not an option). The 9000 is something special; not easy to find an equal as replacement. RIM should have updated the 9000 with more memory for apps and left the rest as is. Best keyboard ever. My 9000 is known as my "A10 Hog" amongst my friends. It's old but indestructable ... and deadly efficient.
 
The Generals in above story will sound familiar to you. Think "Android".

Turns out the GPS does work, just not for me.

The 9300 runs OS6 out of the box. I prefer the keypad on the 9000 as well as the track ball. I'm tempted to take it in to vodacom and see if they'll swap it out even if it costs me a little bit.

No - the missus wanted to try the new OS so I left it.
 
I got a 9300 not too long ago from MTN and it came with OS5. I flashed the vodacom version of OS6 (I actually use it on voda).
GPS does indeed work. Used garmap quite a bit for the trial month.

Yeah, I'm not sure why the GPS wouldn't work for me but when I installed the free Vodacom satnav for the missus it worked fine for her. :confused:

It's not that bad. Granted it did get me majorly lost down a goat track in rural-rural-SA once . . .

I'm not keen on the 9300's keypad tbh. Hopefully the new bold will have the same type as the old one.
