Hi all.

OK, so my girlfriend got a BlackBerry Curve 9380 and few months ago (I think it was June/July) and it is giving her endless problems to the point where she just wants to throw the damn thing across the room.

Why she decided on it in first place is beyond me, but anyways.

First of all, could there be anything on her contract that she can action to assist her in getting a new/ different phone? Not sure off hand what contract type she on, but it is with Vodacom.

Secondly, if not, what can we try to speed the damn thing up? I have removed most of the song off of it to free up some space, and moved some of the apps over to SD card memory, and off the phone memory.

The only other thing I can think of is backing the phone up using the BB software, giving it a wipe, and then restoring contacts and other essential items back onto it. But to be honest, I am not sure how helpful that would really be.

Any ideas or helpful hints would be greatly appreciated. Shame, she really is battling.

Edit: Sorry, I just remembered, she is with Altech :-/

Hi

I had issues with my BB 8520 and like 2month before the 1year warranty I took it in and the in house tech had a look at it, If they cannot fix it then it gets replaced.... so I suggest biting the bullet and giving it in for a week or 2 (CellC took 1 week) and push for a replacement which normally does happen if the tech cannot get it fixed. If you want try the wipe thing first.

What issues are you experiencing?

regards

Thanks for the response Keegan.

When trying to perform simple tasks like opening whatsapp, BBM or even a new mail, it will just freeze for like 5 - 10 min, or until you do a battery pull. Even when the device is sitting at the home screen, and hse goes to try make a new call it goes pear.

Thing is, the problem is very inconsistent. One moment is it fine, and then it goes belly up.

If the wipe and reload doesn't help, then sending it off is the only option I'm afriad. Couple weeks isn't end of the world. She does have an old phone to use in mean time,

Do you have the latest bb7.1 software installed on the phone ?
I have a 9380 and it works flawlessly.
Try installing the latest device software failing which send it in for repair/replacement.

I meant to do this over this weekend, but just lost track of time! What is the correct way to do this? Can you do it direct via the device, or on pc? I know whenever I have to update my android, it a breeze to do...
