Blackberry curve BIS problems - Internet not loading

A friends BB curve's BIS is having problems the internet is terribly slow and sometimes just doesn't load. Mxit on the phone doesn't work as well.
The BBM is fine however.

My BBM on MTN has stopped working completely and BB Apps timed out. Mail not downloading. There is definitely something not right tonight.

I noticed some slow periods over the last few days... Very annoying.
Also my battery seemed to drain quite fast today and I didn't use the phone a lot :/

I havnt seen any speed issues on Vodacom with my 9900
