Hey there.

Activated a few days ago, BIS (Blackberry Internet Service), for my HTC P3470 handset.

I have already done my part of the homework beforehand, contacting both HTC and RIM directly to confirm that (paraphrased from RIM) "any Windows Mobile capable device can install and use our Blackberry Connect software".

Downloaded and installed as per RIM and HTC's advisement, the latest version of Blackberry Connect (4.0.0.106).
Software installs fine.
After install, phone prompts to reboot and does so just fine.

But Blackberry Connect only connects for 2 or 3 seconds, then disconnects itself again. No errors. Just disconnects.
In the Blackberry Status page... "PIN: Pending".

I have tried every other solution available online to no avail. I checked and double checked again, with RIM that ANY WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE CAN USE BLACKBERRY CONNECT SOFTWARE. (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/micr...UE_1_1&dialogID=52247724&stateId=0 0 52249441) --- make life easy for everyone, they even were kind enough to email the links to that same answer they gave me.

They told me that if any such problems of PIN:PENDING occur, it is due to the network provider not properly provisioning that SIM for service. (see above link)
Please, what do you need of me to get this working?

I have more than my fair share of the research and troubleshooting in this matter only to achieve nothing. I have notified MTN call centre via 808, only to get "You will need to take this matter up with your handset manufacturer for compatibility issues"... now boys@callcentre... dont MAKE me say bad words.

I don't think all Windows mobile handsets support Blackberry eg. Samsung Omnia does not. I thought it was only a small number of phones that did.
Google your phone and Blackberry and see if anyone has actually set this up because I doubt your phone supports it (unless it says so on the HTC site or on your manual) they usually advertise compatability (someone at RIM is a liar).

Hi
Are you still having an issue?
If so, please PM me the following:

BB Pin thats generated on the application:
IMEI of the device:

Regards

DD

Application is not generating a PIN at all.
Thats the whole core of my problem. Application fails to connect and create a PIN from Blackberry.

I PM you the IMEI so long.

There are 2 main types of category that devices fall into.

RIM Hardware (Trueblood Blackberry's).
Non-RIM Hardware (Everything that isn't a Blackberry).

Under Non-RIM Hardware, there are 2 further sub-categories.

Devices supported natively by their Manufacturers/Operators.
Devices not Natively supported by their Manufacturers/Operators.

All that means, is that some devices come with it pre-installed... and others dont.

I have confirmed this from numerous sources at both HTC, Nokia, and RIM; Any Windows Mobile capable device, with GPRS capabilities, will be able to install, run, and use the Blackberry Connect Software.
The bigger problem is with "proprietary" technologies, like the Nokia OS, Motorola OS, etc... aka: non-Windows Mobile.
If the Manufacturer in that case doesnt adapt the software specifically to that device, then it wont install, hence it wont work, or whatever.

My main point?
Any Windows Mobile capable device, with GPRS capabilities, will be able to install, run, and use the Blackberry Connect Software.
