BlackBerry ... Future?

The PlayBook is getting a less than enthusiastic reception from the tech media, and this is clearly irritating RIM. The two co-CEO's are not happy chappies at present. Watched an interview on Bloomberg with the one and I wish a body language expert could analise that interview because the man's eyes told a thousand unspoken words. If I was a RIM employee I would have felt somewhat embarrassed of those bosses of mine. No Steve Jobs qualities there, that's for sure.

Agreed, I suppose coming last to the party and not having much wow factor may have something to do with it. Besides, the requirement of needing to have a BB for the device does not make sense considering they are losing market share. I dont think its going to incr market share for BB which I think they were hoping for. I have a BB but not a chance would I get a playbook and be locked into using a BB

With BIS being as slow and useless as it's become (since every second person has a BB) (def my experience; others might be luckier), who would want this powerfull device running on BIS? To me on my BIS the PlayBook would be useless.

You are def 1 of the unlucky few, guessing your with MTN?
Everone i know has already experienced the uselessness that is MTN long before we went berry and with Voda its always great speeds and thanks to OS6 i knock a few GB through my phone, my last download was 900MB, on 3G that goes nice and fast and removes the need for me to actually pause ony of my downloads on my pc.

Actually my buddy and his brother, both on VC, have had nothing but endless problems with BIS. So much so that he's moving to MTN (where I've never had a days problem)

Must say, from the little I've seen/read, the Playbook seems very underwhelming. I think they have an uphill struggle to make any sort of impact on the market.

As an aside, I've never experienced any issues with BIS on VC.

Interesting comment at the end of the PlayBook review on BGR:

"There’s a much bigger picture here, and while the PlayBook is important, what’s more important is that RIM skating to where the puck is going to be. The company’s new strategy breathes new life into this aging Java-reliant company, and with a little more time in the oven and some smart enhancements, tweaks, and updates, RIM really does seem to be setting itself up properly for the next 10 years."
