$ 99 is R821.00. What am I getting wrong here? Price here is R5500.00 or R500+ per month * 24 on contract.

For the Curve? Must be the 8900 - a buddy of mine got a 8310 2nd hand for R1999 from a cellphone shop, local stock, not blacklisted and with a 3 month guarantee...

Apologies if I'm stating the obvious, but $99 is the subsidised price for the handset. Added to that you need to pay the monthly subs of around $60, plus around $45 a month for the Blackberry data package (unlimited). The cash price of the handset is around $350-$400, IIRC.

Yes $99 is your pay in price. If you could get 8900 Curves for that price people would be exporting them here and coining it.
