Does anyone have this phone yet? Also, what is your opinions on this? I want to get my wife a new phone, because her trusty Nokia C3 is getting old now, but she insists on a QWERTY keyboard phone, so no touch screen for her.

Thanks in advance!

For the price of the Q5 you could get a S4 mini on contract but I would say is she is hell bent on a qwerty buy the Galaxy Chat which goes for R1399 at CNA I think

Should I buy the BlackBerry Q5?
In a word: no. Even if you insist on having a physical QWERTY keyboard, the BlackBerry Q5 is still not the way to go. Save your pennies a little longer and plump for the far superior BlackBerry Q10: it will leave you far less disappointed. And if you are simply looking to upgrade from a Curve or Bold, well, then we are sorry to say it might be about time to turn your back on BlackBerry.

Hi, long time blackberry user here. Also keeping a eye on the new Blackberries as I get to upgrade in a months time. Unfortunately the reviews for the Q5 looks a bit underwhelming

Thanks for this information. I am however quite sure that this will be a substantial "upgrade" going from a 3 year old Nokia to a newly released Q5? The phone will mostly be used as a phone! LOL! SMS, making and receiving calls with a few photos thrown in occasionally.

If that's all you doing with the phone R299 a month is overkill IMO

Could always just get a older blackberry curve since it can all of that at 1/3 of the costs.

Go for the Bold 9900.

My bro got the Q5 yesterday he is quite happy with a little learning curve from his Nokia E7.It has good spec and way better than the Bold 9900 and also it seems the SA models get LTE.The New BB OS10 is a huge improvement and simple to use once you get a hang of the gestures. It is quite large and seems flat when looked from the front it has like a matte finish.

Hi,

I am going to get a Q5 this afternoon, anybody with this phone? Am I making a mistake?

I have yet to see a positive review of this phone, if you with an older bb7 device stick with it. the consensus among all of them that's it's an overpriced, way overpriced phone.

I guess you missed this post just above yours:

So I did go ahead and get it anyway, seen bad/and average reviews on it,
day 1 using it, not bad, still fiddling around with it...
waiting to go home to try out the skype... 1 thing for sure is everything is totally different.. the way you go about changing settings etc.
alot of settings "missing" like 1 I picked up so far which is a little annoying, It does not group the status, photo update from contacts on BBM, so if somebody changes there pic 3 times it shows as 3 different updates...

But so far no issues, If you use to any older BB, you can get use to it...

BUT it is only day 1 so still learning my way around. (I didn't release it was soo long and wide..)
I suggest this model for people with big hands...

I suggest you take your wife to go and see the phone, hold and play with a demo version.. it is quite long and wide...
