I have a top up contract that costs me about R500-00 per month.
It is coming up renewal and I was thinking is there any Blackberry offer on MTN / Vodacom that I could look at?

1) The bold or the storm?
2) same pricing for contract that I am on?
3) what are the benefits of Blackberry?

Thanks

I'm eagerly anticipating people's answer to whether there are any MTN specials coming up.

For me the biggest seller for the Blackberry is the unlimited, on device, data plan they offer at such a low price . . well that and push email. :D

For Vodacom at least you can bolt on the r59 blackberry package to any account - existing or new.

BLACKBERRY 9500 STORM @ R149 PM FOR 24 MTHS ON TOP UP 590 (BHIP VAS) BIS
BLACKBERRY 9000 BOLD 3G GPS @ R169 PM FOR 24 MTHS ON TOP UP 590 & VODACOM SHARED TALK 1500 (BHIP VAS) BIS
BLACKBERRY 9500 STORM @ R2999 CASH ON TOP UP 590 (BHIP VAS) BIS
BLACKBERRY 9000 BOLD 3G GPS @ R3399 CASH ON TOP UP 590 & VODACOM SHARED TALK 1500 (BHIP VAS) BIS

The first two are where you take it on a montly installment payment plan.

Above VSP deals valid untill the 6th of June 2009

Hi Bwana thanks for the info, I would like to get the phone, either the storm or Bold.....not sure if that applies to the bolt on R59?

Sorry man can you explain the above packages please?
I dont necessarily want to take the same top up contract, I wouldn't mind taking out a blackberry plan for the same price.

Certainly. Breakdown below.

TopUp 590.....R590 + R9.50 (Clip) + R59 (BIS) = R658.50 per month
You then get R590 airtime per month (top up if you finish it during the month) and the
R59 (BIS) will give you unlimited emails (excludes roaming) and unlimited on device browsing (exludes roaming)

Ok but this obviously excludes the phone? Right?
How do these plans compare?

Yes...you either pay the cash price in store....or you take the payment plan. For example if you take the deal below....

BLACKBERRY 9500 STORM @ R149 PM FOR 24 MTHS ON TOP UP 590 (BHIP VAS) BIS

R149 will then be added on a monthly basis for 24 months to the R658.50 to finance the handset.

I merely gave the deals on the Top Up 590 seeing that was a similar package you mentioned when posting this thread. You must keep in mind on the Blackberry tarrifs you get minutes not airtime. If you a control freak and like to control your spending, Top Up is the way to go.

Thanks man, yes that makes sense. I would use this only for mail and browsing. Not really needed for calling. So maybe it makes sense to go for one of those packages I linked to.

If you're not planning on making many/any calls you can also buy the phone outright and add the blackberry service on to a prepaid PAYG or 4U Contract. Or of course add the blackberry service to an existing contract.

I believe recall someone saying that MTN is offering better deals on blackberrys with a contract these days.

Havu decided on what BB you will be getting?

@marine. None of those deals are specials in my opinion. They all include handset cost. My advice is to choose a contract that works for you and then pay the difference on a handset or or addit to the contract price. That's for vodacom. Mtn have better deals but your best bet then is to get the bold as storm is exclusive t vodacom. I love my storm, well at least I did after I got over the problems of the factory firmware.

So Bwana based on my needs, that link I posted, probably worth while hey?
I found an old, but virtually unused, 8300 in my drawer the other night that I've been using recently. It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles the bold, storm, or 8900 curve have but I just browse and email anyway.

They're all fantastic devices though. Just review the features and see which best suits your needs.

Im sure for R500 a month (MTN Anytime 500) u can get the blackberry bold for free. Im on an MTN anytime 500 contract and i got my samsung omnia for free, the omnia and the bold/curve are in the same price range (i stand to be corrected!)

The Omnia is quite a bit cheaper than the Bold. The Bold is now R409 on Anytime200.
