8Ta,

I'm TheoD, right here from Protea Glen. I'm wondering if any of you guys could please assist this old man with 2 queries?

1. My neice bought me a Blackberry 9300 curve for Christmas, I am trying to connect it to my pc but to no avail! The only thing I've done was to plug in the usb cable to my pc, nothing happened! Please bear with me! Is there some software that I need to download? If so from where? I just want to download my Christmas photos to the PC!

2. This Blackberry, unlike my cheap and very good Samsung, which I paid R50 for, always asked for my pin when I don internet banking with capitec, with this phone, the minute I dial *120*3279# it goes straight to the section where I can start transacting! How can I stop this??

Please help??

Can't help much because I've never owned a BB, but you definately need the BB software to interface with the phone. I had to download the software for my neice once!

I don't think the BB works like a plug and play media device and will not just show up on your PC as a drive that you can just copy and paste.

**I'm up for correction on any of these points**

Good luck

You dont really need the BB Desktop software, as you can handle it like any USB Storage.

When you plug the BB into the PC, the PC will detect the device, and the Berry will detect the PC. The Berry will then give you 3 options on screen, select the "USB drive" mode. As Da-Lion-619 correctly said, it will then put the Berry into USB mode, similar to a flash drive. If nothing happens on the PC (New hardware detected) and/or nothing happens on the Berry, verify if your USB port is working.

Open "My Computer" and you should see 1 or 2 Removable Storage Devices named "BLACKBERRY_" (should be at least one such device, if you have a Media Card in it, there should be 2 such devices)... use it like a flash drive and copy from the Berry to your PC.
Double click the device - Should show a folder named "Blackberry" - double click that - should list "Camera" (this is where your photos should be) - copy and paste away.

If you have 2 Blackberry devices (due to media card in the phone) check the other device also for the "Camera" folder, as the location where your photos are saved is dependent upon a selection you made on the Berry.

Apologies if I am too detailed.

If you plug it in and it doesnt detect it as a mass storage there is a setting within the BB that has been disabled. I have seen this before with a BB. Best bet it just to take it in to a cell phone cornershop and ask one of those dealers to help or you can go on a settings hunt for a few hours xD
