I have the Blackberry 8520 on MTN Prepaid. I receive e-mails within 5 minutes after it has been sent. My colleague has a more expensive model on a Vodacom Contract. It takes 30 minutes or more before an e-mail comes through on her phone. I tested it today sending the same e-mail to both our addresses. I received the e-mail within in two minutes and she received the same e-mail only approximately 40 minutes later. What could be the cause of this? Is it a Vodacom issue or could there be another reason?

Who hosts your email accounts? Are they imap or pop3?

I actually tested this today simultaneously with three e-mail accounts - an MWEB pop address and two Exchange Server accounts. The BIG speed difference was particularly with the two Exchange Server accounts of our company.

I've heard Vodacom has a few problems every now and then...also heard that MTN BIS is faster then Vodacoms...seemed true with my two friends Blackberry's...MTN is just faster!

My BB is about 2seconds faster than Outlook!!!
When send mails from my laptop delivery and read receipts are much quicker.
I'm on the companies BES server. BB9700.
Even my Hotmail account is almost instant.

I have a Storm2 on MTN and I would send an e-mail from my workstation addy to my work e-mail addy & my gmail account both e-mails get to my blackberry faster than to my outlook work desktop machine. Takes about 10 seconds to my BB.
