Blackberry torch 2.

Didn't even know there was one on the way. Only upcoming BB I'm aware of is the Bold 9900.

With RIM it's all speculation at present. Nobody seems to know what's going on with them. I was hoping the 9900 would come in July as initially indicated by RIM but we seem to be looking at Sept now (and who knows how long after that in SA). Personally, and I hate saying this, I've just about given up on BlackBerry. The 9900 will come out with OS 7 and we are already told that that will be last of that OS, to be replace by QNX on new devices after the 9900. Why would I invest in a dead OS? Nokia with its Symbian on smart phones all over again.

I disagree with you folks about the dead OS. These days if a phone is 2 years old it gets upgraded, so why moan about OS7? You're not going to have the phone that long in any case?

Apps is the issue. No developer will waste time/money to develop for an OS that's going to be replaced. So for the next 24 months you see no new apps of substance whilest those on iOS and Android have a jôl all the way through.

I've got a Nokia 5800 and I used it for "apps" in the first 2 months. Thereafter not at all. The default apps do their task and I have no need for major apps as I have a PC.

That's the selling point for Android, but not for me as a smartphone user. I use my Camera more than anything on the phone the last year.

Different strokes for different folks, I'm not an app freak.

Teraside, the majority of those going for a Torch 2 would want plenty apps, and fresh ones too. We're not talking about a 8520 level device here.

Of course, given that QNX will be able to run the BB apps anyway, I don't see an issue.
