Blackberry ... Vodacom or MTN?

I'm considering getting a Blackberry solution but need to decide between Vodacom and MTN. MTN is cheaper (R90/m on the Bold for example) but does this mean that an extra R60 must still be added per month for Blackberry's unlimted internet/e-mail (or is it included in the price as is the case with Vodacom's offerings)? Vodacom also offers GPS navigation for 24 months as part of their offering - and MTN seemingly not. Anyone here able to comment on MTN vs Vodacom Blackberry offerings?
 
MTN's subscription does include the unlimited email/browsing through BIS. The Bold's GPS comes with Blackberry maps which have the latest SA maps. MTN has Garmap for mobile for free download which is excellent. MTN have assured me the map data is free but I am waiting for my bill to make sure. Google maps has been updated with new SA maps which is free and pretty good. AmazeGPS is also a good free voice guidance/ turn by turn GPS app. I can't think of any reason to choose Vodacom.

If your Bold breaks on a Vodacom contract they will most likely claim it is due to water damage and leave you having to buy a new phone. Its all too common these days with Vodacom.
 
Wish I went with MTN with my Storm...
If you want a reply that makes sense when you need support, MTN ole chap... AFAICT, MTN does not do the "pre programmed response" thing, where all customer care queries are responded with a 2 line deja vu...
As a vodacom client of 7+ years, I vote "go for mtn"
 
I would say Vodas is the best for BB.

Unlimited GPS usage, I havent used the MTN version, but Satnav from Vodafone is the best mobile navigation option on the market!
BB Storm is exclusive to Voda.

Voda has been in the BB game much longer than MTN.
 
I bought my bold from mtn. I had a few minor problems, but the friendly people at the shop fixed it. My BIS was not immediately activated and the mtn customer care had no idea what was going on. But the people in the shop quickly sorted things out.

The gps from mtn works quite well, aswell as bb maps. All the other stuff is the same as vodacom, but for allot cheaper because at mtn you don't pay satnav.
The BIS on mtn is 139 on mtn and 69 on voda, but mtn is still allot cheaper. BIS is awesome, spent the whole weekend online downloading nandos adds for free

Satnav is free on Vodacom, R59.00 with the zero rated BB apn everything used through that apn is free even Opera mini.
 
There may not be much difference in Vodacom or MTN locally for Blackberry but don't ever roam on an MTN account. MTN charge per 25KB increment but most emails are way less than this. As a result an MTN account can be up to 10 times more expensive than Vodacom whilst roaming. In truth I think both providers are rubbish when it comes to the Blackberry. Most of the staff have had zero training and are totally clueless.
 
They are both the same. MTN and Vodacom BIS is the same charge, but new MTN contracts for Blackberry are far cheaper than Vodacom. Voda has Satnav, MTN has Garmap both are good.
The only thing to consider is monthly price and service, having had the same situation as Sensorei I choose MTN.
It makes no difference who's had Blackberry longer JK8 and MTN offers exactly the same BIS deal as Vodacom (and they dropped their prices first after which Voda had to match them).
 
As far as I can tell one Blackberry offering is the same as another however after the last debacle with Vodacom (liquid damage :rolleyes:) I'm off to MTN. Their phone deals seem better and lets be honest their customer service cant be as bad.

On my bill the BIS is 139. Maybe its because of the contract I have. Bblackberry bold for 489 on anytime 350 or something like that.

The offers in the MTN catalogue I've got expires end of April. Anyone got a peek at the new catalogue yet?

The current MTN Blackberry offers are substantially cheaper, so if the content and service is about the same then MTN's the way to go it seems. Is there still a problem with stock (Bold)?
 
BB on Vodacom is the only option! I've travelled extensively and the Vodacom roaming ans speed is far superior to MTN. I was recently in the Okavango Delta in Botswana with a Collegue who is on MTN. He could not even sms and I had full BB coverage!

MTN maybe be cheaper but you get what you pay for!
