Blacklist mobile numbers on device

I have an HTC Desire phone.
I am getting irritated at the number of marketing sms's that I receive, often from the same company.
Is there a method on the phone that I can simply blacklist the number pertaining to the sms and the phone automatically deletes it? Or is there software out there that will do this?

If you install gosms and use it instead of the default messenger you will not only be able to do that but you will also add a few dozen extra useful features

MIUI has a build in filter to screen calls. It also has a privacy option where you can only receive in your contact list. Works great

That's calls, not sms's which is what he wants to block, you can use root call blocker or mr number to do that without having to install a custom rom.
