Blacklisted IP's

Hi everyone

We are having more and more problems with SAIX/AdSL ip's that have been blacklisted on Spam servers. Does anyone know what workaround there is for this problem.

Here is an example:
Client has ip ADSL address form saix. 165.165.x.x and connects to our server (That checks the RBL) using smtp to send email, our server denies the sending of email. [We then forced the our server to accept connections form this network 165.165.0.0]

NOW, the next problem is that our server accepts the SMTP connection and passes it to the next server in line BUT the NXEXTserver will then refuse the connection since the email originated from a blacklisted ip.

Does anyone here have any ideas.....we do not want to use smtp.saix.net as we virus scan etc our client emails on our server

Depending on what mail server you're using you could do a header re-write and remove your server IP. Anyway, why would the registered IP on your ADSL line be shown in the header info of an email? It should be your internal IP of your mail server. 192.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x or whatever.

I think the entire 165.165.x.x block is blacklisted with every single list on gods green earth and there is absolutely no way to get it off if there are so many offenders.

Are you using no-ip? Most mail servers wont accept mail if there is no PTR record and that is impossible unless you have a fixed IP.

This is the problem with IPs not being fixed. Telkom loves this kind of predicament because that forces people to think about their leased line options. That is exactly why Telkom is so hard up on giving fixed IPs when we all know it isn't a big issue.

Yip, what if we suddenly started running mini ISP's from our houses:eek: and ate up all of Telkoms bandwidth that we've already paid for.

Bunch of tarts that they are:(

Had the problem once. After calling Telkom ISP the solution was to switch off the POTS router for 30 seconds, switch on again and presto - new IP.

Of course the bad IP is passed onto someone else:(

Thanks for all the postings. How long before SMTP.saix gets blocked.
The other problem is that we want to virus scan the email before it is sent on by our server in the US.

The thing is that there is no internal mail server. I have 5 client PC's at one site and they share a ADSL line. When they send email it...the receiving mailserver(SMTP) takes the 165 address as the From IP in the header. Then when the email is passed to the destination it is denied.
Client PC==>ADSLRouter/FW(165)==>SMTP Mailserver [Maildude} (In the US) "all ok up to this point".....then [Maildue] tries to pass email to anothermaildomain.com and anothermaildomain.comrefuses the email...reading the header and finding the 165 address there......is this possible?
