I am looking for new blank E180 VHS Tapes or has these also become "Hens Teeth" with the demises of the DVR recorder by the DSTV HDPVR. Thanks

Insanely hard to get these days, I agree. Found some TDK-branded ones at Pick 'n Pay N1 City about 2 months ago.

You gotta be joking! BTW I doubt the PVR was the downfall more like Blu-ray and DVD.

He is saying the supply has dwindled since people moved away from using their DSTV PVR. I have quiet a few friends who decided no to get a replacement PVR when their old ones broke.

www.sony.co.za lists VHS tapes on their site and they have a "Where to Buy" button. Maybe try that and call the listed companies. Else contact Sony directly.

Pick n Pay Hyper's stock them in their tech sections. I kid you not :erm:

Back to the future
Yes I concur if I am able to purchase an independent "DVR utilising built in Hard Drive machine" in this country without being forced into the DSTV HDPVR Bull***.
@ Ponder -Thanks for the Sony RSA hint unfortunately their Website is out of date - like many others and they all forced in to the DSTV HDPVR Bull.
I will not support DSTV as a matter of principal.

Our small local PnP has them, and seeing the comment above another PnP has them too.... perhaps try your local one too?

A friend has one which he purchased a couple of years ago. I was under the impression that they were still available. (DVR) It records to DVD.

I was under the impression they were obsolete.. I do have a few sealed, closed :) I am willing to send them to you, just pay for postage and packaging have 10. Tried to sell them on Junk Mail but nobody wanted to give me R50 for the lot

Why don't you get a dvd recorder instead ? The VHS tape won't last long and the quality of the video will be better on a cd or dvd.

scout around smaller independant furniture and electronics retailers. Tafelberg Furnishers in green point had philips and lg dvd/ hard drive recorders in stock. Grab if you can as i was told by philips that they were "under pressure" to discontinue production.
