"WoW.com is reporting that a trusted source has informed them that Blizzard is giving serious consideration to making authenticators mandatory on all World of Warcraft accounts. The authenticators function the same as ones provided by most banks — in order to log in, you must generate a number on the external device. Blizzard already provides a free iPhone app that functions as an authenticator. The source stated, 'it is a virtually forgone conclusion that it will happen.' This comes after large spates of compromised accounts left Bizzard game masters severely backlogged by restoration requests."

Buy them from Ebay, they have free shipping to South Africa and go for around $15 to $20 depending on the seller.

I have it on my Nokia N73 and paid R7,50 for it and havent had any problems ever since the only downside is if your phone goes down your screwed cant get into your account or into the game

Damn... Its not for a Nokia N81.. Anyone perhaps know if there's a place in Cape Town who i can buy it from ? The Auth thing?

Yet again, I post this:

If you have, or can obtain for yourself, any phone that runs WINDOWS MOBILE, i can get the authenticator installed for you, via phone i can help you to do it yourself (if im not raiding or something), and if you trust me i can just email the app-files right to you and skip some unneeded extra work.

NO!
i cannot help you on a Nokia x9983-SuperStarTrekSpecialEdition or a WTF ELSE!

WINDOWS MOBILE ONLY!

Then again... i see a LOT of the supported phones now include those really el-cheapo phones too.

Maybe as an alternative, buy an el-cheapo phone for the purposes of being an authenticator only?
You would only need a sim in it at installation as it needs to synch to blizz servers to set its internal clock right, else the app dont work.

Is there a windows mobile emulator?
There should be.

EDIT:

Get it here : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...af-12e3-4b2f-a394-356e2c2fb114&DisplayLang=en
A friendly article: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2008/0...ulator-lets-you-run-windows-mobile-6-on-your/

Just so you know, installing Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6 in an emulator is easy. Getting it to interact with your desktop so you can copy and install files takes a bit more work. And you'll need a fairly fast computer to run the emulator. On our system it ate up to 340MB of RAM and used a fair bit of CPU cycles.

First you need to select the operating system you want to emulate. Microsoft offers ROM images for Windows Mobile 6, Windows Mobile 5.0, and Windows Mobile 2003SE.
Okay, so perhaps running this and WoW at the same time is a bit of a stretch on system resources. But, if you have a laptop lying around ...
