We've all heard it before, but at this point World of WarCraft has done so well that it could probably become a functioning, autonomous nation. But what about Blizzard's next massively multiplayer game?
Well, according to Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime, it's definitely not going to be set in Azeroth and surrounding locales. In an interview with Wired, Morhaime said, "We're not trying to replace World of Warcraft with this new MMO. We're trying to create a different massively multiplayer experience, and hopefully World of Warcraft will still be going strong when that one is released."

Pretty as most people expected. Nobody wants to give up that Level 70 Night Elf that they've been working on since 2005. But what could that mysterious new MMO be? We're keeping our fingers crossed for World of Rock 'n Roll Racing. How about you?

World of Starcraft!

Not really they gone milk us even for the RTS starcraft.:(
Since Blizzard announced StarCraft II would be released as a trilogy, with each entry focusing on a single race's campaign, there has been some backlash from Internet goers who speculate the studio is bowing to pressure from new owners Activision to drag out the game with the sole purpose of increasing revenues. "Franchise milking" has been on the lips of more than a few commenters.

But Blizzard's StarCraft rep Bob Colayco told Edge on Monday that it's not like that all, saying that Blizzard's the one "calling the shots."

Some people say that the decision to release StarCraft II as a trilogy is a sign of Activision flexing its muscle over Blizzard-to "milk" the StarCraft franchise. Is the trilogy format related at all to the Activision merger?

No, absolutely not. [Activision] does not play a factor at all. One of the things that [StarCraft II lead producer] Chris Sigaty was saying in interviews this weekend is that we had always planned to do two expansion packs for StarCraft II. This structure just reshuffles how we were going to do things.

Just to give you some context, typically with Blizzard RTSes, we release a single-player campaign that gives players just a taste of each race. The original StarCraft had 10 missions each or so for Terrans and Protoss. When we released the Brood Wars expansion pack, there was another eight or so missions for each of the missions.

All we're really doing is reshuffling how players are going to experience the single-player content. In StarCraft II, we're going to have a campaign that focuses strictly on the Terran. It'll be 26-30 missions long, and you'll play as Jim Rainer. When we release first expansion set, that's going to focus on Zerg. So that's going to be another 26-30 missions strictly focusing on Zerg. When we go to the final expansion pack, it will be the Protoss experience, probably another 26-30 missions.

I think the readers aren't understanding that there's a full, gi-normous single-player campaign experience in each of these three products. Instead of getting all three race experiences at once, to make it a more epic experience, we're focusing on one faction per entry for the single-player

I heard it was something to do with World of Darkness. Some post apocolyptic vibe.

World of Guitar Hero? Id be done. No more living in this world for me :P

World of Lamecraft i dont know how you can play the same game for more than 1 year.

WOTLK=fail But we got a few people that worship WOW. for these believers this is blasphemy burn the witch.

haha, i doubt it. I should have spelt it incorrectly.

The next-gen MMO was known quite some time ago. Blizz have been hiring people to work on it for quite some time.

Whatever it is, it's at least 4 to 6 years away. By then people will be so burned out on WoW that they'll flock en masse to it, whatever it is (that, or they'll have moved on to other MMO's). Either way, hoping to run World of Warcraft and NewGenMMOX is, imo, pretty unlikely.

I'm not so sure. Most people's toons dont last a year. They reroll when it gets boring. Level alts, etc.

Some just take our 'reroll's' a little more seriously, and occasionally reroll a whole new game.
