Evening all :)

We all have specific IP's for our pc. There are four of us. I have a Netgear Dg834 Router. How do i block one specific ip. they are all set up in the windows config. eg:192.168.0.2 is mine. 192.168.0.3 is my friends etc etc. How can I block one of them.

Thanks Everyone :D

It's all in the manual (I don't even own a Netgear router).

The reference manual is here :
http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/dg834gt_manual.pdf

The firewall section is in section 5-5.
Page 65 of 176 in a PDF viewer.
You can set up firewall rules in the inbound and outbound direction.
In your case you want to block outbound traffic for a specific source IP address.

Section 5-9 on page 69 of 176 shows you how to block outbound traffic for a particular service, IP and time of day.

I really can't explain it more clearly that the manual so go and RTFM.

Personally I'm not too familiar with the all the Netgear routers lately, I had too many issues in the past with Netgear stuff, but rather check if you can /filter/block -> outbound traffic per MAC address and not IP & set some time restrictions to allow outbound from his box, if that matters. Go through the manual and see if that model supports it.

Also try out Netlimiter pro... It's a great app...

There's a reason why proper firewalls are separate network devices that all relevant traffic is forced to pass through.

Netlimiter is totally useless if you don't have access to the PC you want to block and anyone with a brain can disable it.
