Hey all,

My father in law needs to block a certain number from being able to call/sms him. Is MTN able to do this?

He uses a 15 year old nokia, so using an app to do the blocking is not an option. It needs to be a method by which MTN blocks this person from being able to phone him.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Nope. Upgrade phone. Use true caller.

Seconded. Truecaller ID is possibly the best app for this purpose. Unfortunately it may be your only bet.

Why not get him a relatively inexpensive smartphone?

Truecaller is awesome. But you need a proper phone.

His only hope.

I once got MTN who was the provider of a number that constantly called me to block them and warn them in their launguage to stop calling me. They did so quite quickly as well.

Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately my father in law is very old and had a stroke a few years ago. There is absolutely zero chance he will be able to (or want to) learn how to use a new phone.

Argh...

Another trick that sometimes works is to answer the call, then just ignore it. Eventually they'll stop talking and hang up, but after you do that a few times the large phone bill will eventually make them stop.

What he said.

1. Answer.
2. Say "please hold"
3. Put phone next to radio.
4. Go about your day.

There used to be a USSD code that allowed you to add numbers to block. Guess they have done away with that since Android.
