I had a tech come install a line at my place for future ADSL connectivity. So he feeds a wire down the tube to the DP downstairs but unfortunately only got so far.

There seems to be a blockage somewhere in between my point and DP. Said he can do nothing more then left.

Any ideas what I can do to remedy this situation? Do I call a plumber to somehow vacuum out the blockage or pour some sort of acid down there?

Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

How far down is the blockage?

Use bloudraad?

Not sure how far but from my point down I'm sure it was pretty close to the DP side.

What is bloudraad? Techie used some sort of reel to push a wire down the tube but at some point it wouldn't go any further.

Bloudraad == galvanised wire.

Essentially, you need something that can "drill" through the obstruction. The ideal would be something like the rotorooter guys use, on a much smaller scale. i.e. flexible spring that can get around the corners of the conduit, but that can be turned and not simply "wind up" like a regular spring would do.

If you get some galvanised wire, or similar fairly stiff wire, you can try to figure out where the obstruction is, and see if there are any chances of opening up that pipe to remove it. Another approach might be to attack it from the other side, and see if you can push the obstruction out.

Alternatively, choose a different route.

An item worth using here is called a fish-tape!

Ah! I can get a plumber to do that. Heheheee.

I'll have to get permission from the Body Corp if I want to reroute. Yikes!

A good electrician will unblock it for you .
Some times it requires the fish tape to be inserted and then fished from the other side with steel wire with a hook bent in to the end .
