I sent someone a set of fotos using Gmail via Outlook Express .
I compressed the pics ,but it seems that the file is to large.
When I try to cancel the message or delete it the computer freezers with
a "program not responding"
How can I stop the computer from trying to send this message.
I have deleted the source of the attachment but still no cigar.

Right now the message is still in your Outbox, right? And you probably have OE configured to do a send/receive on startup, so before you can do anything else, OE tries to send the too-big msg.
See if you can get into OE's options, and stop it from doing send/receive (for now). Delete the msg from the outbox, then reinstate the S/R on startup.
For sending multiple photos by email, consider using Picasa, or better still, posting to an on-line album.

Bingo I got a buddy in and we deleted the "outbox " entirely and the OE created a new one by default. Its no wonder the program didnt freak out completly me trying to send a 2OOmg package.Almost like a woodworm trying to chew a brick.
Edit.
Thanks for the help guys
