Blood Pressure?

the "top part" is the maximum pressure of your blood on your veins (called the systolic) and the bottom part is the minimum pressure, called diastolic. Too high a arteries can pop, too low, well not enough of the red stuff are moving around. .If im not mistaken you want a BP of 120 over 80. I have hypertension and this is kinda how the doc explained it.

That does not make sense, when your heart is pumping I'm pretty sure it does not fluctuate between 120 & 80, it's constant.

The first part, usually around 120, is your systolic pressure and the second part, usually around 80, is your diastolic pressure. The 30 second breakdown is that your systolic pressure is the pressure blood exerts on the walls of your veins and arteries as your heart beats and the diastolic pressure is pressure between heart beats... i.e. maximum and minimum pressure

Its not like a water pump man. Your heart gets a signal to contact its muscles like 72 times a minute so there will be fluctuations.

LOL... That's a chart for girls... I got to Olivedale Clinic when I had my little myocardial infarction in '10 and my BP was 260 over 180. /sucks back 50mg of Adco-Atenolol.

How did you manage to get up and reply to this thread??

I live with it every day of my life since early childhood...

After an op (about 3 years ago) it was 50/40... The one nurse said to the other this person should be in a coma...

& I was awake

edit: they took my BP 4 times with 2 diff sets of equipment.

Eish... They know just how to make you feel a-okay. I had a nurse say you'll be just fine, we're just going to give you something to drop your blood pressure a little, then she ran off to get two attendings to be at the bed side before she did in case they crashed my BP and... well... Good times!
