the "top part" is the maximum pressure of your blood on your veins (called the systolic) and the bottom part is the minimum pressure, called diastolic.
That does not make sense, when your heart is pumping I'm pretty sure it does not fluctuate between 120 & 80, it's constant.

Systolic pressure is the pressure generated when the heart contracts.
Diastolic pressure is the blood pressure when the heart is relaxed.

I live with it every day of my life since early childhood...
After an op (about 3 years ago) it was 50/40... The one nurse said to the other this person should be in a coma...
& I was awake
edit: they took my BP 4 times with 2 diff sets of equipment.
