I have no idea what chip it has ... and trying to download this says invalid username/password ...

the problem with the instructions above is that I can't get to actually install the drivers, the problem is not that windowze doesn't recognize the device or something, but the problem is that I can't install the software

I am sure if I manage to install the software it will work

I will try maybe one more time, not sure how it is gonna make difference from the previous 2-3 attempts, but with windowze everything is possible :D
 
I just connected my new phone to my laptop, I gave up with the desktop install for now ... will try again later

by the way the stupid nokia application that came with the phone won't show me the files on the phone and it crashed while I was trying to make a backup of the phone memory. The standard bluetooth software worked fine so I can transfer files with it without a problem as I was doing with my old phone. The point is, Nokia still got a long way to go, I replaced my SE T610 with 6230i and although functionality-wise nokia is a bit better, the interface sucks, very much like the old 3330 I had many years ago ... obviously they don't bother improving things much, they just change the pictures with animated ones, and there you go a new phone, anyway for R100 on mycall 100 I think it is a good deal, and I won't use it much anyway, so I will get used to its deficiencies :D

Not having much luck today - try tomorrow it's microsoft it might work.

the version of nokia's pc suite that's on the accompanying cd is usually outdated.
you might have better luck downloading the most recent version from the nokia website
(currently at v.6.7, i think)

I don't really need it much as I can transfer files via the bluetooth ftp, but it is quite disappointing that it isn't working out of the box

bloody nokia software! I am trying to remove the PC Suite I installed yesterday and I can't! After selecting uninstall, it pops the uninstall window and then disappears in a few seconds and everything is still here ...

I really feel I did a huge step backwards moving from SonyEricsson to Nokia! Don't get it what the people see in Nokia! Such an inferior product!
 
maybe try reinstalling it "on top of" your existing installation, and then try uninstalling it again?
could be that the initial installation is corrupt or something?

that's exactly what I tried even before I read your post and now I have no windowze nomore

I guess that there has been some other issue on my system and the nokia software just made it much much worse ... i was getting some errors the other day before I installed the nokia software, but this just killed the machine completely
 
Swordfish, sounds to me like an IRQ conflict, in that the bluetooth is trying to access an IRQ that is already assigned. See if you can't do some reading up on how to manually set IRQ resources to free up space for the Bluetooth device ?

after the last crash I couldn't get the windows loading anymore ... apparently due to registry corruption, and I didn't have a registry backup, so I am busy reinstalling as I post :(

I just installed the bluetooth and it seems fine, but I still need to install few more drivers so there are still plenty of opportunities for things to go wrong

I need to figure out now how to make registry backups on daily basis and automaticaly, I learnt my lesson

I have WinXp SP2 and i cant find nething about bluetooth there is suppose to be a bluetooth icon in control panel and in device manager there should be a section headed Bluetooth Radios

It aint there !!!!!

i dunno wtf is going on

help plz
 
@gunny: supply some more info please. I reckon it is a Notebook ... which notebook?
 
If I remember correctly, the Acer comes pre-installed with the Acer Bluetooth drivers (or more to the point the manufacturer of the device's drivers). You should have a disk/setup on the machin to install the factory installed software and drivers?
