Go on Yahoo Japan Auctions via Rinkya.com
select one there, you can use one of their pre-defined BD player searches,
then register on
either
crescent-shop.com
or
rinkya.com
or
okshon.com
(I've used 2 of these services to buy and one to search)
and then buy a domestic Japanese BD player. Then you can watch Region 1 BDs
ie USA (widest selection by far and cheap) and even JP BDs.
You won't be able to watch the tiny selection of BD titles from SA and EU though (Region 2).
You'll need PayPal, cc or bank transfer to use these services to buy stuff.
Yip, the PS3 is the best choice, costs more or less the same than the cheapest blu-ray players and it supports the newer version of blu-ray and will continue to get software upgrades so that it will stay up to date for at least another couple of years. Plus it has a harddrive and can stream music and videos from your pc, Oh, and you can play games on it too.
2nd best?
