Sony and Samsung BD players have Ethernet connections - does that mean I can run a cable to my router and play the music/movies on my PC thru the BD player?

The Samsung player is "wifi ready". What does that mean?? wifi connection between BD and router, or do u have to buy something extra?

BD movies might have additional content/features that require internet access. That is why it have a ethernet port. It might also be possible to use netflix, etc; depending on the particular BD player.

WiFi ready might mean that it could use a WiFi USB dongle. Not sure though.

What is sure, is that you won be able to stream the movie to your PC.

A quote from someone with a Samsung BD1255, so if this is correct then the answer is yes

"I recently purchased a Samsung Blu-Ray player which is connected to my home network through the Ethernet cable. It also has the ability to stream video files from my PC - great feature.

With Blu Ray Discs with BD Live it is great to be able to download additional info on the movie, the actors etc.."

Depends which player you gonna get. It's only the really expensive ones that can stream off your PC. The entry level Sony and Samsung ones don't.
