Can someone explain to me, lets say I got a BR writer and copied some BR content from a BR disc, what would the output file be? MKV / ISO / ??

Thanks
Also what do the writers go for these days?

I dunno. never done that yet. But wouldn't it be like a DVD? with a video folder with VOB files in it? Shows how much I know about BR discs.

Are you doing a direct copy or some kind of rip to conversion?

can you repeat that Gary i didn't quite get you the first time?:p

the MKV format is only used when it's compressed, as for what format a 1:1 copy would be, who knows? i'd think Nero 9 would be able to do this for you though.

You know when you put a DVD into your computer... and then explore the files on it?

You will see two folders on the DVD...

AUDIO_TS
VIDEO_TS

The VIDEO_TS folder will have a bunch of files in it. some of them... the ones with the actual movie have the extension .VOB on the end.

I wondered if you would get the same thing with a Blu-Ray disc.

What do you see when you explore the Blu-Ray disc in the computer? Maybe someone else can tell us who has a writer already.

But remember, you also need a program to handle the ripping/decoding/cracking.... like AnyDVD which can now rip Blu-Ray discs as well.

lol....I actually meant that as a joke.... *d'oh!* (the double post)

Well you need to

A. Buy AnyDVD HD 100 euros, Trial will not rip BD+
B. Connect to the internet to RIP BD+ disks (most fox and sony Bluray disks) (I think it caches the key) :(

Here is the ODS there is a better description on the doom9 forums just cant find it now ;)

2:OP Price are about R1500 for reader R 2500 for writer you will need to buy dual layer media for "backing up" an original

Just download a copy from a torrent site and be done with it. You can pick up Blu-Ray writers for R2k.

Im sure they will blacklist it. The problem is you HAVE to connect to slysoft for the BD+ keys for the disk you are ripping (BD+ disks obviously)

Oh crap! :(

I'm buying a writer because I bought 15 HD DVD's last week from Amazon for $3 each.
