Hi all

Hoping for an explanation for this blue chicken... What would have caused this? Won't mention any names/brands yet but these are chicken breasts in a long-life rosemary and garlic sauce, the kind that doesn't need refrigeration. My thoughts are something to do with preservatives or some such... Could also be a reaction with the chicken, or even the chicken itself, since it only appears on the chicken? :erm:

How would you take this up with the shop? Would you just ask for an exchange, or would you take it further?

Edit:

its "fairly" common for garlic to turn blue when its with an acid(lemon). Enzyme reaction

Don't mix garlic and lemon juice. :(

So it only showed up after you cooked it? What did it smell like?

I've never heard of chicken that doesn't need refrigeration.

It must be the chemicals they put in it :erm: Dude, that would just scare me and well I would never buy that chicken again

Lol. I think he meant the sauce doesn't need refrigeration.

Did you mix the sauce with the chicken and then they went blue?

It looks.pretty gross. Is it.only the sauce that has turned.blue? Or the.chicken is actually blue itself?

As per OP, it could be a reaction with the chicken, or the chicken itself. Doesn't appear in the sauce.

Your chicken pieces or whatever it was purchased as must of thawed out a few times and refrozen a couple of times. Was the chicken bought in a box out the freezer section of the store or was it in the refrigerated section?

Could be a result of the store losing power or the transportation or or or or... there are many variables.

Refrigerated, fresh...
