Blue screen with new HDD - any advice?

Just assembled a new pc. All parts brand new. On the first start up, bios detects both HDD's (2 x WD 500GB SATAII), everything is fine. Then as soon as pc boots up, I get a blue screen! Any advice? No operating system loaded yet, this is with first start up. I have formatted both drives, checked again in bios, what am I missing?

You need to disconnect the drives and optical drive and boot again. Then connect one drive at a time and boot up. Should narrow it down.
